The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Samson Adamu as its permanent General Secretary after a thorough recruitment process.
He succeeds Veron Mosengo-Omba, who resigned in March 2026, and served in an acting capacity for the past eight months.
Adamu, a FIFA Master graduate, joined CAF in 2018 as Director of Competitions and later led Tournaments and Events. In his new role, he will manage daily operations and ensure the successful delivery of key events like the Africa Cup of Nations.
A CAF statement confirmed his appointment by the Executive Committee (EXCO), highlighting the comprehensive selection process that included advertising the position and interviewing several candidates.
Adamu’s extensive experience in African football administration equips him well for this critical position, where he will contribute to CAF’s strategic priorities and operations.
