South Africa’s Bafana Bafana head coach Pitso Mosimane has named the final squad for the important 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Kenya.
This announcement comes after an initial list of 38 players was released last month. South Africa will first play Kenya at the Orlando Amstel Arena in Soweto on Friday, 13 November 2026, at 18:00. They will then travel to Nairobi for the second match on Tuesday, 17 November 2026.
Two key players returning to the squad are defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi and midfielder Thalente Mbatha. Both players missed the last training camp due to injury but are now fully fit.
Captain Ronwen Williams and midfielder Teboho Mokoena are also in the squad, despite some recent injury worries, adding valuable experience for these crucial matches.
Bafana Bafana is currently at the top of Group D, having earned six points from their two opening matches in September. They won 2-1 against Guinea and then delivered a 5-0 victory against Eritrea. South Africa also had a strong showing with a 1-0 win over Egypt in a friendly match in Cairo.
