Mogbwemo Queens Suffer Back-to-Back Defeats

After enduring a disheartening 5-1 defeat at the hands of Gambia’s Berewuleng FC on the MBoyo Field, the Sierra Leonean Champions faced yet another setback on Monday afternoon.

They were bested 3-0 by their Guinean rivals, 𝗔𝗦 𝗕𝗢𝗟𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗔, at the DMC Faraba Stadium in Gambia. This consecutive loss has significantly dampened their aspirations for qualification in the tournament as they set to return home.

The situation is further complicated by the fact that AS Bolonta, the Guinean champions, had previously triumphed over the Gambian champions Berewuleng with a score of 2-0 in their opening match.

AS Bolonta has now won two games in a row and secured a spot in the semifinals. This puts them in a strong position as the competition continues.

Charlton Athletic attacker Daniel Kanu joins Notts County on loan

Charlton Athletic forward Daniel Kanu has joined us on a season-long loan. The 21-year-old arrives after a strong 2025-26 season with Walsall, where he was named Young Player of the Season in Sky Bet League Two.

Richard Montague, our Director of Football, said, “Daniel’s skills complement our forwards well. He is a natural scorer who uses his speed effectively and works hard when we don’t have the ball. We believe he is a great fit for us and we’re excited he chose Notts to continue his development.”

Kanu joined Charlton’s academy at age 11 and signed his first professional contract in 2022 after a successful season with their Under 18s. He later impressed in League One and had a loan spell with Southend before joining Walsall last summer.

He finished as Walsall’s top scorer with 18 goals in 44 matches and won multiple awards, including League Two Young Player of the Season.

Kanu has six caps for the Sierra Leone national team, where he played alongside fellow loanee Hindolo Mustapha, and scored his first international goal in a friendly against Azerbaijan in March.

Kumba Zainab Brima scored her first goal for the Deportivo Alaves women’s team during a 2-0 win over Valencia on Sunday. This was in their first match of Liga F.

The match took place at the Medizorroza Stadium, where Alaves showcased their skills and determination throughout the game.

Brima’s goal in the 22-minute was pivotal in securing the win, and her performance contributed significantly to the team’s overall success.

The victory not only highlights Alaves’ strength on the field but also marks an exciting moment in Brima’s career as she continues to develop her impact within the squad.

Ivorian youngster Malick Yalcouyé nets in Brighton’s defeat to Chelsea

Ivorian player Malick Yalcouyé scored his first goal for Brighton in a close 4-3 loss to Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday.

Yalcouyé started the game and shined for Brighton, scoring in the 35th minute to make the score 3-1.

The 20-year-old midfielder took advantage of a chance in the penalty area and scored a great goal, giving Brighton hope for a comeback.

Chelsea took the lead early in the match. Roméo Lavia scored in the fourth minute, followed by Pedro Neto in the 14th minute, and João Pedro added a third goal in the 32nd minute.

Brighton responded with Yalcouyé’s goal, and then João Pedro scored an own goal in the 63rd minute to bring Brighton closer at 3-2.

Chelsea regained a two-goal lead with a goal from Cole Palmer in the 74th minute. Pascal Groß scored a late goal for Brighton in the sixth minute of stoppage time.

Despite Brighton’s efforts at the end, Chelsea held on to win 4-3. Yalcouyé’s goal was a bright spot for him, marking his impact in the Premier League, even as Brighton left Stamford Bridge without any points.

Manchester City Defender Juma Bah Nearing FC Augsburg Move

FC Augsburg is set to sign Sierra Leone’s 20-year-old centre-back Juma Bah on loan after a recent report confirming a verbal agreement that includes an option to buy him for over €20 million.

This information comes from an Italian transfer insider. The player also received offers from clubs in Spain and Italy.

Bah is expected to fill the position left by Keven Schlotterbeck, who recently moved to Southampton. Last season, Bah, who is a Sierra Leone international, played on loan at OGC Nice.
