Star Sport Academy Reinforces Squad with Two New Additions

Star Sport Academy has signed two new players to strengthen the team for the West African Champions Cup, the CAF Champions League, and the upcoming Leone Rock Premier League season.

Midfielder Santigie Fornah joins from SLIFA FC, bringing energy to the midfield. Striker Hindovie Tucker arrives on loan from Frances FC for one season after scoring thirteen goals last season, including three in the FA Cup. He will enhance the team’s attack.

Head coach Amidu Karim believes these players will improve the team’s balance and experience as they prepare for the season.

The club is eager to see the new players in action as they build ahead of the new campaign.

CEO Mohamed Jusu Tarawally is happy with the signings, stating, “These players show our ambition. We welcome Hindovien Tucker and Santigie Fornah to Star Sport Academy.”

Team Manager Salim Pokawa added, “We are excited about these players. They will fit well and make our team stronger.”

Star Sport Academy Thanks SLFA after CAF Champions League Confirmation

Star Sport Academy has expressed its heartfelt appreciation to the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) following the official confirmation of their participation in the 2026/2027 CAF Champions League.

After the conclusion of the 2025/2026 Sierra Leone Premier League season, Star Sport Academy received communication from the SLFA indicating that the League Champions, Bo Rangers FC, had opted out of the competition.

As the next eligible club, Star Sport Academy has graciously accepted the responsibility to represent the nation on the continental stage. The club’s management intentionally took a few days before announcing this decision to allow for essential internal consultations and preparations, believing it was crucial to share this news in a thoughtful and organised manner.

They extend their congratulations to Bo Rangers FC for their successful season and offer sincere gratitude to the President of SLFA, along with the Executive Committee and the Secretariat, for placing their trust in the club. Star Sport Academy embraces this responsibility with humility and is fully committed to representing Sierra Leone with professionalism, discipline, and pride.

Referee Sulaiman Sanito Kamara Selected for WAFU Zone B U-17 AFCON Qualifiers

In a proud moment for Sierra Leone football, referee Sulaiman Sanito Kamara has been selected by WAFU Zone B to officiate at the WAFU Zone B African Cup of Nations Qualifiers.

The tournament will take place in Yamoussoukro, Ivory Coast, from 26th July to 9th August 2026. This is a historic moment for the young official as he gets the opportunity to represent the Green, White and Blue on the continental stage.

The young referee continues to build an impressive international officiating profile. In 2025, he was selected to officiate at the WAFU A U-17 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers in Mali, where he capped off an excellent tournament by taking charge of the final match—an appointment highlight in his career so far.

SLFA Wraps Up CAF License D Coaching Course for Coaches

Freetown, Sierra Leone: The Sierra Leone Football Association [SLFA] on 22nd July concluded its CAF License D Coaching Course at the SLFA Secretariat in Kingtom.

The course brought together football coaches from across Sierra Leone who underwent intensive training on modern coaching techniques, player development, and the CAF coaching curriculum.

The License D course is the entry-level certification in the CAF coaching pathway and is designed to equip grassroots and community coaches with the foundational knowledge needed to develop players and teams.

SLFA expressed appreciation to all participants for their commitment and to the technical instructors for delivering the program successfully. The Association reaffirmed its commitment to continuous coach education as part of efforts to raise the standard of football in the country.

The SLFA has released a thorough schedule outlining the start of the next season as the present league draws to a close in the next two weeks.

Among the main features of the forthcoming football schedule are:

1. Starting Division One will feature both male and female leagues that highlight developing talent and create fierce competition.

2. The National Play-Offs, these eagerly awaited games will highlight male and female teams competing for domination and provide an exciting finish to the season.

3. This vital procedure will be necessary for male and female Premier League players to guarantee that all athletes are duly registered and qualified to play.

4. Club registration: Every male and female club has to finish their registration to be eligible for the next season.

The Executive of Old Edwardians Football Club wishes to announce that the club has parted ways with Head Coach Patrick Bangura and his technical team, with immediate effect.

The decision follows a review of the team’s current direction and objectives for the season. The club extends its appreciation to Coach Bangura and his technical team for their service and contributions during their tenure at the club.
